Casa Sull’Albero / Mila

The owner of a marvelous boutique hotel in Tuscany badly wanted a luxurious hotel room on a tree. As luxury and comfort are hard to provide on a tree without killing the tree we’ve planned the house adjacent to the biggest tree we could find on the property – right on the edge of the Cicolina hill close to Montepulciano.

Winland Center / Arquitectonica + Farrells

Hangzhou Winland Center is located on the bank of the Grand Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is adjacent to the Xiangji Temple with a thousand-year history. In accordance with the theme of "Sublimate the temples", ARQ designed the project with the premise of preserving the grace of the temple. By interpreting the spatial layout of traditional Chinese buildings with modern methods, a group of new modern buildings perfectly integrates with the surrounding circumstance, such as the history, humanity, and nature around the ancient temple. The whole project is not only a project about rescue and preservation, but also an exploration of urban issues. It is exemplary and valuable in the aspect of public welfare as ARQUITECTONICA is able to establish a harmonious coexistence between the new complex and the old city. It not only protects the historical and cultural heritage but also the natural ecology of the entire region. Moreover, it is a dialogue between tradition and the future.

Kia Lab Laboratory / Davood Boroojeni Office

Building-City - In designing the Kia Laboratory Project, it has been tried to create an interaction between the building and the city by adding a new application to the building, which has the role of an urban hangout and to make the border between the city and the building invisible. In this way, the user is faced with a structure that is both a building and a city, and the border between the two is not easily recognizable. The idea of building-city was formed after conducting different field studies and interviews with the residents of Qarah Ziya od Din (the location of the project). The city’s inhabitants considered the existence of security and the absence of coexistence spaces as two characteristics of the location.
