The Ornithopter / HIR Studio

The pursuit of flight has always been a fantasy of humans over the course of history. From Leonardo da Vinci’s sketch of the ornithopter to the first bi-plane test flight across the Hong Kong airspace in 1911, humankind went through countless unceasing trials, setbacks and failures. This artwork is inspired by the mechanics of the flying machines. Installed with a pair of double-stack flapping wings and bicycles' mechanical system, the Ornithopter perches on the lawn, casting flickering shadows to create an enjoyable shaded public space. It interacts with the public and lets them experience the journey of restless hard work in realising one's dream.

hotel tt / design by 83

"hotel tt" is a boutique hotel with branches in Gupo and Seomyeon in Busan. Surveying the first and 20th floors, the design team was inspired by the spatial feeling of the first floor and the exterior scenery of the 20th floor. It could look down at the natural ecological park surrounded by the mountains and stream of the river Nakdonggang connected to the sea across Busan. The design team envisioned the entire concept in "a space where people can appreciate this region's own beauty and culture". According to the client who wanted a different atmosphere from any other franchise hotels, the design team proposed to break the hotels' general principles and create a space to contain a simple yet unique taste and focused on expressing natural elements.

Casa De Bouro / Mutant Arquitectura & Design

The concept for the development of the proposal was “a hug to nature”.

The genesis of the proposal configures a simple volume characterized by a rectangular parallelepiped that was deformed in order to embrace the area of land oriented south and that composes the patio. The program is organized in two floors, where the lower floor, in the basement, absorbs the spaces intended for the garage and technical areas and the upper floor intended for social and private spaces. The entrance hall, the four suites, one of them with a walk in closet, the kitchen and the living room communicate directly with each other. In the social space there is also a service toilet and a pantry to support the kitchen.
