Hide and Seek Apartments / Valerie Schweitzer Architects

Inspired by the palm tree, the nature-centric apartment building in west LA provides a sense of nurture to the entire street in a post-pandemic age. It incorporates the local flora in unique ways including the site’s roughly 90-year-old sycamore, with a playful treehouse effect. The 15-unit structure, LEED Gold, heightens our awareness of nature’s interplay with the man-made that marks Los Angeles. It does so with a mix of natural and industrial materials: Corten steel, insulated glazing, board form concrete, salvaged wood, and palm trees on all floors.

Casagranda / Trika Arquitetura

Context and Proposals. The client’s commission was a one-story family house, organized on a regular plan containing three suites, a study/library area, and an open kitchen.

Espace Mayenne Sports Hall / Hérault Arnod Architects

Espace Mayenne is a multifunctional facility including a large sports and entertainment venue with a capacity of 4,500, a gymnasium with a climbing wall for international competitions, and a conference hall. In addition to these three main venues can be found other spaces, such as partner lounges designed as modular rooms to receive guests during games or shows, as well as offices and cloakrooms for artists and sportsmen. Outside the building, the project is completed by a 670-space parking lot, a landscaped area, and a 250-meter-long cycling ring for national competitions integrating a training track in its center.
