10 National Monuments You Can Find in Valparaiso

Women on Construction Sites: Our Community Shares their Thoughts, Concerns, and Outlook for the Future

Site work has always been and remains a pivotal stage in forming our built environment. Most architects, designers or engineers have at one point or another been on the grounds and understand the importance of presence within the project development phases. Working on construction sites can be a valuable learning experience and allows different inputs from diverse experts to be considered in forming a better urban, living, and working environment for all. Starting from this idea, and as we delve into Women in Architecture as part of our ArchDaily topics, we published an invitation, encouraging our readers to share their opinion on gender-based discrimination on the construction site.

VBZ Busgarage Facility / Pool Architekten

A simple, sculptural building forms the striking western end of the VBZ / ERZ facility in Hardau. In order to leave as much space as possible for the future development of the area, the interventions concentrate on the southern layer of the perimeter and thus on the alignment of the existing parking garage. By combining the salt silo and the trough system with the office wing, free space on Bullingerstrasse is created and traffic optimized.

The Light Pavilion / Esculpir el Aire

‘The Light Pavilion' is a conceptual construction that mainly works with white, offering a pure piece that transforms the Light as it passes through and allows the air to move freely. It is a small building that is offered as a Pavilion-Restaurant Terrace to enable new space experiences in an environment of culinary encounters, where Light is perceived differently during the day than at night when the artificial lighting thrills us –through the skin of the architecture– as if it were a magic trick.
