Casa Nueva Esperanza Community Center / Proyecto Reacciona

The rehabilitation of the abandoned school building in Colonia Pueblo Nuevo was the fifth intervention within the Crear Comunidad-program by the Asociación Civil Proyecto Reacciona. Crear Comunidad seeks to locate libraries or municipal infrastructures in poor condition to reform them through citizen participation.

This single house emerges as a watchtower in search of the sea views of the Bay of Palma. Like any watchtower, this house is conquered from its base. Through a soft ramp, you access a covered cloister surrounded by ceramic and glass arcades that serve as parking and entrance hall.

The Minhang Riverfront is an ambitious story of urban regeneration. A mere 24 months ago it was a decrepit overgrown riverfront faced by low grade industrial warehouses with remnants of paths, industrial and disused utilities evidence of many years of change and neglect within the district.
