Walled City / Studio Malka Architecture

In the Israeli-Palestinian caesura, the political institutions no longer envisage a situation of peace. Interestingly, at the most active period in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, we were talking about a «peace process»; The semantic field alone sums up the distance taken from peace itself. Solutions have to be taken by force by non-governmental spontaneous organizations and take direct actions, avoiding processes.

Bovenbouwwerkplaats Transformation / Studioninedots

The impressive workshop building – in which heavy elements for the Dutch railways were manufactured – was built in 1905. Until recently, the building lost more and more of its original architectural qualities and functions. Maintenance was deteriorating, new constructions around the building obstructed the view of and from the workshop and the structure was in need of renewal.

Transforming Office Washrooms into Spaces of Wellness and Creativity

Many associate bathrooms with small, simple and practical rooms with no defining design characteristics. Historically, they have been conceived as merely functional environments strictly programmed for hygiene, privacy and ease of maintenance –often with no room for creativity. But as lifestyle changes have placed health and wellness as a top priority, contemporary bathroom design has been reimagined accordingly, shifting towards spacious personal retreats intended for comfort, relaxation and recuperation; an escape from a chaotic outside world. Because we tend to spend most of our time inside the home, many recent discussions naturally revolve around residential bathrooms, overlooking another setting where we also spend a significant number of hours in (around one third of our lives to be exact): the workplace.

Umani Hotel / STARH

Umani Hotel is located in close proximity to Golden Sands Nature Park near the city of Varna, Bulgaria, and looks over directly towards the Black Sea. Walking around the area, one could see the building slowly appearing behind dozens of oaks and acers, almost like mimicry. Even though the site is significantly busy due to Golden Sands Resort nearby, the space of Umani Hotel appears as a natural barrier and insulation for serenity.
