Nanning Shuangding Waste-to-Energy Power Plant / UUA (United Units Architects)

Located to the northeast of downtown Nanning, the recently completed Nanning Shuangding Waste-to-Energy Power Plant sits surrounded by the eucalyptus forest, with the undulating karst mountains as a backdrop. Seeing United Unit Architects (UUA) Design Partner Yongzheng Li and Managing Partner Qizhi Li leading the schematic design stage, and China Urban Construction Design & Research Institute responsible for the subsequent stages, a traditional niche typology of architecture is redefined as a landmark for the 21st century, with nature and industrial function reaching a balance of harmonious unification. The architectural design takes inspiration from the stunning natural context, combing the functionality and human aspect to create the next generation of waste-to-energy power plantsin China.

PAK Office / PAK Architects

The office is where we spend 1/3 of the day working, learning, and socializing. Therefore, creating an office with a unique, scientific design that contains positive emotions and inspires inspiration and work motivation is necessary. And more critically, when this is an office for a young design unit, "PAK architects." PAK Office is a renovation project in Hanoi with two floors in a relatively small building having 7-storey, each floor having an area of about 80m2. Initially, the two floors were leased independently of each other. The main problems to be solved when designing are common problems in Vietnam's small-scale office designing connectivity and tropical space.

Project 58 Residence / The Purple Ink Studio

Rooted in strong cultural influences, PROJECT 58 creates an immersive experience for one to reflect upon and enjoy the spontaneity of the surrounding environment. The house is sited on a corner plot of 8000 Sqft abutting the main road of a modestly plotted development in East Bangalore. Planned for a young couple hailing from distant corners of India, it reflects a blend of stories & contexts coming together.

Middle Half House / SAW // Spiegel Aihara Workshop

The project is the transformative architectural and landscape design of a 1962 home in Mill Valley for a couple and their two young children. The project, known as The Middle Half, dramatically reconfigures the home’s core to create an open, light-flooded interior and direct connection to the landscape. Raw, textured materials like galvanized steel, rough-sawn cedar siding, and cast-in-place concrete define the project and accentuate its unexpected, layered geometries.
