At the entrance to Vieux-Longueuil, situated between its residential and commercial areas, on a piece of land left uncultivated for many years, Studio Jean Verville architects has erected a 2,600 square meter dental complex based on the concept of biophilia.

Nature House / COTAPAREDES Arquitectos

The project takes its name due to the strategy of adapting to the nature of the topography and the solar orientation of the property. In this type of project where the possibilities are limited, we respond to the needs of the clients. Generally, they ask us for a ground floor bedroom with a full bathroom that we decided to give double duty so that it serves both for the use of the bedroom and for the guests. For us, it is essential that this bedroom has a controlled relationship to the outside, so we continually seek to generate a patio that provides good lighting and ventilation and at the same time privacy. We believe that privacy is not a luxury but a necessity of human beings.

Brunofierro House / TALLER PONTI

It is a row house built in the early 90s. It is located in Sant Pere de Ribes, a village 50 kilometers south of Barcelona. It was large but dense, as it corresponds to the type of middle-class housing of the time. It was not a dark house, but it was semi-darkness. To optimize the number of floors, the slabs leave a very tight clear height of just 255cm. There are four floors: one with a parking area (at street level), a ground floor (at the level of a rear public garden), a first floor, and an attic. The house is well located, in the upper part of the village.

Caulfeild House / Brisco Loran

Comprising the eastern half of an interwar semi, this South London home was extended progressively northward across the late 20th and early 21st centuries, forming an accretion of rooms and a poorly planned kitchen that struggled to define a working pattern of use. Key living spaces were pressed into the darkest areas of the home whilst the garden went underused, feeling poorly connected with internal life, despite the installation of wide folding doors.
