Casa IT / Felipe Gonzalez Arzac

Concrete, Glass and Wood are the three elements that make up the minimalist and rational architecture of this house and define the space. At the time of projecting, an attempt is made to merge the concepts and visions of architecture, from the aesthetic-constructive and functional aspects, with the needs, proposals and tastes of the client. Every project has a lot to do with the client. The composition begins with the creation of two concrete walls located in the dividing and front axes, and a white block with wooden parasols on its two main faces, which is supported by six circular exposed concrete columns, giving the visitor the sensation of be watching the top floor float.

Kuwait University College of Life Sciences / CambridgeSeven + Gulf Consult

The College of Life Sciences is a graceful example of a building that combines programmatic requirements and response to a specific site and environmental conditions to create a unique and wholly appropriate college for the study of art and the environment. This exceptionally site-responsive building is notable for its dramatic, angular sloped façade and its cladding of striking, desert-colored, textured material. The array of diamond-shaped forms—perforated metal panels—filter natural daylight and shade the interior from the harsh sun. The color intensity of the golden structure changes with the sun’s movement throughout the day, much like the surrounding desert. The angular geometry of the panel array is echoed in the building footprint and surrounding landscape features.

Marie-Louise House / Gaillng Rickling architectes

Chalet Marie-Louise is located at the bottom of the southern slope of the Bec du Corbeau, near the center of the village. The surrounding context is relatively dense and heterogeneous. The project is implanted at the top of the plot in order to seek distant views and to clear the south of the land into a garden. The natural slope of the land allows distinguishing two entrances, that of the main house on the upper ground floor, and a «mountain» room on the lower ground floor, which serves as a checkroom and serves the two dwellings independently.
