House for Parents / Matsuyama Architect and Associates

The house was designed as a permanent nesting ground for an elderly couple who had spent their lives making Oshima Tsumugi (woven fabric), a traditional craft of Amami Oshima. The site is located on the Pacific Ocean side of northern Amami, on a rise that overlooks a peaceful village and the mountains. For any project taking place on these southern islands, protection against typhoons and severe subtropical climate is of utmost importance. These preventive measures, however, had resulted in the creation of many buildings that have been designed to close off from the outside.

Ha Ha Haus / FIGR Architecture & Design

Embedded into the landscape, ‘Ha Ha Haus’ is located in a leafy pocket of Alphington (Wurundjeri Country) where front fences are a refreshingly rare sighting.

Context. The deep-rooted origins of the Domaine de Bayssan still remain a mystery, but its toponymy plunges us into the Gallo-Roman period which contributed strongly to the city of Béziers identity, its economic expansion, and its emergence in history.

Ptt Saraphi Gas Station / Sher Maker

When the renovation of a gas station is a way to glorify the skill of the craftsman in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Sher Maker, a multidisciplinary design studio that is interested in craft culture designed an old gas station facade by collaborating with a local ceramic studio. PTT Saraphi station is a pilot project of this design program by PTTOR, an organization in charge of PTT's affiliated gas stations in Thailand that want their station to become a public space for passers and people in the local area. Sher Maker keept the existing structure of the main sale building and encased it with the façade by questioning the possibility of the participation of local people by using the skills of a local craftsmanship studio.
