Villa MKZ / Takeshi Hirobe Architects

The footprint of this vacation home dances around the complex conditions of the site. Although the site is splendidly situated overlooking an ocean view to the southeast, there is an elevation gap of about 1.4 meters in the center, around an outcropping of bedrock, and an unbuildable area cutting into the property on the street side. By necessity, the detached building housing a two-car garage, and the guest room is situated on the east side, where the elevation gap is smallest, but the client requested that the main house weaves around the difficult site conditions. 

Newton 207 Building / ARQMOV Workshop

Newton's project presented itself as a great opportunity, one of those that architects dream of finding at some point, an apartment building designed and built in the 50s by architect Abraham Zabludovsky, in an exceptional location.

Carbon Apartment / CoDA arquitetos

The couple came to the office looking for a renovation project in their apartment located in Asa Norte, Brasília. When they got in touch with CoDA, they were living in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the office's biggest challenge was to adapt the process to the needs of a remote client, such as adapting the time zone and documenting the construction by video.

Rosa Parks College / BPA ARCHITECTURE

Informed by the Mediterranean climate and the surrounding landscape, Rosa Parks' middle school's architecture draws inspiration from the palaces in Southern Europe by reuniting its program around a majestic courtyard that provides shadow and freshness. Forming a spatial continuum and taking advantage of the comfortable microclimate in every season, the volume resembles almost a cloister, the central courtyard becoming here a peaceful outdoor space for students to meet.
